3D Boxes »

Create 3D Boxes!

This is a really easy simple tutorial, but can be used in many different ways!

Start by making a new document, I’ve used 720×540 for mine. Set your background to E1E1E1 and a foreground of B1B1B1 - you can use any colors you want really, it dosen’t realyl matter.

Start by getting your Rounded Rectangle Tool and make yourself a shape on the middle of the page, this is what I put together:

All I’ve done is add a little bit of Inner Glow and a little Outer Glow - you can do anything you want really, this is just an example.

Create a new layer on top of the shape, and go into Filter>Render>3d Transform once in there, grab the Cube Tool and make as many cubes as you can on the canvas:

Once you’ve done this, greab the Trackball Tool and spin the shape around until you are happy with it - you should see it looks all 3d as shown below:

Once
you are happy with the amount of 3d then you can click ok. You will
notice the 3d cubes have taken over your shape, so what you need to do
is select the Layer the 3d Cubes are in, and click CTRL+ALT and hover
inbetween the 2 layers, as shown below:

Where
I have drawn the black line, you should over over that area, you will
see a small shape appear when you are hovering, when you see it, click
it, and you will see the 3d Cube layer will blend with the Shape - Cool
huh?

Once you’ve done this, you should be nearly done, set the opacity on the 3 Layer to about 20/30 depending on how you want it to look, and set the layer to Multiply. Here is my finished product:

I
added a shine effect to make it look more classy. Don’t forget, it’s
not just boxes you can use this effect on, you can use it on
anything,I’ve used it on my Sv5 design in the header, Theres loads of
different things you can use this effect for.
